Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house by using a combined gross home earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family revenue isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and need not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or plan to research at a general public university or website TVET college in South Africa.

All students check here who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
